I had my new computer assembled (64 bits) and running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bits. Now I am trying to make work some of my old computer's software, that I want to use. I am having some software and hardware problems: 1 - I want to install my printer, but the options for ports that appear on the list are: LPT1 to LPT3, COM1 to COM4 and XPSPort(local). The computer not has where to connect my LPT cable and I never heard of XPSPort(Port), any suggestion? 2 - I installed CoolEditPro 2.0 without error, but, when I want to run it, I receive the message WMVcore2.dll is missing. I found this file on my old computer's folder C: winnt system32. Probably only copy this file to my new computer, will not solve the problem.
It probably is part of any other software that I not installed on my new computer. Any idea which software would install this dll? 3 - Installation of my Office2000 went fine. All works well, exception Outlook2000. I was able to open my pst file but, when I click on Addresses, I receive a message that wab.dll is missing.
In my old computer, I not found this wab.dll, only outlwab.dll. I downloaded Thunderbird, installed it and was able to import my emails and address book. 4 - my scanner is a Genius CP-HR7x Slim. I tried to install the drivers that I have on the CD that came with the scanner. The driver installed without error, but Windows not recognizes my scanner. Near the end of installation it told me 'Not support this OS' and then opened the 'Program Compatibility Assistant', where I chose 'reinstall using recommended settings'. It installed without error and asked to restart Windows. I restarted, with the scanner on and connected to the computer. The message I received is 'scanner not found!'
When I open 'devices and printers' (with scanner on and connected), it shows the icon with the scanner name. When I right-click it and choose properties/hardware, the device status is 'the drivers for this device are not installed (code 28)'.
I thought that Windows 7 Ultimate already has the XP-Mode???
