'For most of the time, one tends to believe that there is some magic involved in good software. We all know that this is nonsense, most of the time it is technologies, smart algorithms and the people who make the magic happen. ⠀ ⠀ What makes a software stand out? It is people who inject their knowledge and passion into the project and leave their footsteps.' - ⠀ ⠀ A couple of months ago I grabbed the task to rewrite the matching algorithm which helps to connect jobs to developer profiles. This is essential so that every developer profile gets assigned the right job offers. I was asked the question why I do that and why I like so much what I do.⠀ ⠀ Well, it's because through this you learn the fluid thinking process of many people doing the matching manually and you also have to find the way to hardcode someone’s decisions and imitate people’s minds.

This job is not about sitting in front of the computer the whole day as many people think (I also thought so though!). It’s art and a lot of creativity.

You create something and let it develop with time. Although it sounds scary, you can do that too. It’s never too late to start programming and believe me you can do that within a year, even if you specialize in a completely different field. I would really like to show the young girls that they can be everything they want!

Here the students can also learn more about the grant programs of DAAD, familiarize themselves with the history, culture, education and research in Germany, participate in various German cultural events and build cross-cultural bridges between the two countries. ☝️During the first and second semester all students get obligatory 90 minutes German classes per week in groups with maximum 15 learners. Because German academic semesters start and end later than in Russia (October-March; April-September), typically, if students don’t have to retake any exams, they schedule their MSc defense in August. Thus, they can receive both of their MSc diplomas in September/October. Those who have to retake an exam, move on to individual track, later defend their MSc thesis and receive both diplomas on the timeline agreed upon by both Russian and German supervisors. GRIAT graduation ceremony is typically in the middle of September to celebrate the achievements of students, help them get employment and nurture plans for the future.
